Green Office

Environment sustainability is prescribed in the Smart Spending Policy where Green Office initiatives make part of the bank's plan to become a green member of the future banking industry. The green office practice entails cutting down costs of operation by reducing, a.o., paper, electricity and fuel consumptions.

The following describes how CIMB Niaga complies with the green policy:

  1. Using Less Paper
  2. CIMB Niaga saves paper in number of different ways:

    1. Using multi-function printers for scanning documents and sending faxes in order to avoid excessive printouts.
    2. Optimizing the use of e-mails and the company's internal website..
    3. Re-using as much used paper as possible.
    4. Going paperless by preparing and distributing e-statements for e-billing.
  3. Conserving Energy
  4. In making itself energy-efficient, CIMB Niaga encourages:

    1. Turning off electric appliances and equipment after office hours.
    2. Switching to fuel-efficient vehicles.
    3. Having energy-efficient electrical wiring systems installed (with energy-saving light bulbs, zoning application and light fittings).

CIMB Niaga also promotes the movement by distributing posters on the subject, placing 'save energy' stickers at designated spots, and organizing energy-efficiency campaign series.

  5. Waste and Emission Control
  6. The bank occupies units in commercial buildings where water use is controlled by the respective management. CIMB Niaga's head office is in a building equipped with a system that can process grey water for re-use in toilets.

From its nationwide branch network, CIMB Niaga serves customers all over Indonesia. The company requires from time to time its personnel to go on business trips. It is, however, a goal for the bank to minimize such trips, and for this to work, it optimizes the use of information technology for communication purposes. Tele-conference and video conference are preferred. Fuel efficiency is one of many ways CIMB Niaga takes to keep emission under control, and will in the future become a parameter on which performance is measured.
